Not gone to plan...

Hi Everyone, Well February’s update is not only late but also very light on any information about cycling as I did very little… I’ve been doing some training courses to pass the time away and got a bit to absorbed in them and not ridden the bike as hoped. I have another course this coming weekend then a little break until early May so hopefully I will get out on the bike more. Don’t hold your breath though… 🙂 Paul,,

Little and Often…

Hi Everyone, In December 2019 with the new decade looming I decided to ride my bike more in the 20’s… So where to start I thought as I’ve not ridden much since 2006 and to be truthful the number of decades I have left to ride have sadly disappeared. So, my masterplan was to try and ride my bike 31 or more times in January, the rules were that each ride must be 30 minutes or longer and could be on or off road or on the turbos. I did not care what speed I did as long as I did something (

On The Right Track....

Went to Pompey track tonight and had a potter round on my new track bike "http://www.i-team.cc/team/index.php?app=gallery&image=1501" It was really nice to ride, i had a fun time and the evening gave me desire to train a little so that i could possible go a little faster and join in a bit more.

Lots To Do...

Well I did a little ride on the road today… once round the Forestside circuit the wrong was round… I was totally crap to be honest and I once again never understand why I let things get so bad so that I need to die for a few months to gain a little bit of fitness… Rode the 66” fixed out and bounced a lot when revving over 100 RPM, this disappears once a get a few miles in the legs. I always know when some level of fitness is coming back as my cadence get higher than my heart rate…

Ready To Rock And Roll...

Well i finished tinkering with my track bike today and it is ready to rock and roll, well me waddle round the track next Friday... Tomorrow i will have a search through my other track wheels and get a couple of spares to take to the track just in case of a puncture... Really looking forward to Friday, i don't think i have ridden the track for about 2 or 3 years and this will be my 4th time on the bike this year (2 x Turbos + 1 x Cafe ride with Marmotters) I will let you know how it goes

Same Again Stanley...

Hi, I felt really good today at work... which is a little strange... I put it down to the training yesterday so i thought i would do a little more today... only 1/2 hour on the turbos again... to be truthful that's all i can do until my bum get use to sitting on the saddle again. I did some stretching again after getting off the bike, always a good time when you are nice and warm. Thinking of popping out on the road on Wednesday for a little ride, but we will see what the weather is

Nice Cycling Related Day

Hi Everyone, Got up this morning and went to follow I-teamer's Brain's for a spot of weight training... It was quite hard early in the morning... as normal was so impressed seeing the weights Brian can lift and the focus he uses to do so... As i was in Pompey i popped over to the track to see the I-team nippers racing on the track... I only stayed for a little while as i was not dressed for the occasion and the early stages of hypothermia were setting it... We have such a lot of good talen

Be Back Soon... ;-)

Hi Everyone, Sorry for the lack of updates... I have been training but my daughter is not to well so have been focused on her and not updating your lot... It looks like she is going to have some surgery on her brain, which obviously is not so good. I am just waiting for a date for the operation and then I will be winging my way to California to be with her. Be back soon... Paul,,

(Week 7)(Day 1)

Hi Everyone,Sorry been on the missing list… the cough got the best of me and struggled last week to do anything… Friday and Saturday night were quite grim as I just could not stop coughing, so much so that I have strained my stomach muscles.Got on the rower this morning and could only manage 15 minutes as it was really uncomfortable on my belly… went weight training tonight and the same happened… I managed to get all done. The weight loss competition is going fine. Brian shot off into the lead in

(Week 5)(Day 7)

Hi Everyone, Well this week has been a bit of a disaster… I have allowed myself to get quite upset about the bike being stolen and have a bit of a cough so have been wallowing in self-pity… I spoke with my daughter last night and we agreed that maybe I should “Suck it up” and get on with things… So I will be back in business tomorrow. Cheers Paul,,

(Week 5)(Day 2)...

Hi Everyone, I was up at 6:00 and on the rower for 30 minutes… I was thinking that I don’t have a major problem getting out of bed now it’s just something I do each day just like cleaning my teeth… My legs were really sore from the weights last night and I found the last 15 minutes on the rowing machine quite hard… I made a major discovery this morning!!! A cheek bone (well two) … whilst shaving I notice them, which is a good sign that the weight lose is starting to be noticeabl

(Week 5)(Day 1)(46 Weeks To Go)...

Hi Everyone, Brian is home and I went to weight train tonight… as I have had two weeks off we backed off the weight a little and will build back over the next couple of weeks. It was really nice to be back doing them. Rowed this morning for the normal 30 minutes… We did the weigh-in this evening and now the race to lose a stone is on… how strange is it that once I weighed in I suddenly felt hungry … I better get used to it I suppose … Cheers Paul,,

(Week 4)(Day 7)...

Hi Everyone,I spent yesterday at a friend’s wedding and spent today recovering so no sporting activities carried out …The summary of the week: Rowing machine: 3 ½ hours Weight training: Zero On the bike: Zero Weight loss: One pound Quite a disappointing week really…This completes my first month back training… I have mixed feeling really on the progress, I have lost nearly ½ stone which is good… fell in love with the rowing machine which is not so good… and not spent enough time on the bike

(Week 4)(Day 3)...

Hi,Yesterday was a very long day at work… and when I hit the sack at midnight I was knackered, unfortunately work was still playing on my mind and I struggled to get to sleep… I think it was around 01:00 when I dropped off and the alarm seemed to go off in a very short time after. The first stroke was pulled on the rowing machine at 06:15 and continued for half an hour, strange enough the session was not to bad and I did feel good that I had not taken the easy option and pressed the snooze button

(Week 4)(Day 2)

Hi, A quick update (From work )... Sadly im still here... 30 minutes on the rower this morning but have been stuck here since 08:00. I did pop out for an hour to visit the Sports Injury Clinic to have my legs massaged... she nearly had me in tears... Well back to work. Cheers Paul,,

(Week 4)(Day 1)(47 Weeks To Go)…

Hi, The day started as normal with a trip up the river… 30 minutes on the rowing machine, all went well and I did not spring any leaks or capsize . After work I went to see i-team’s Dominic Dentry to get my back and neck clicked back into place … this was more of a maintenance exercise rather than to fix a particular problem. As Brian is on holiday for a week I won’t be doing any weight training I thought it would be an ideal time to get everything realigned and have a week to settle dow

(Week 3)(Day 7)…

Hi, I popped out on the bike this morning for a couple for hours… I picked a flat route for today and ventured into an area where you can sometime see the “Alpine Spruce” However I was not lucky enough to do so today. The new bottom bracket is definitely an improvement, however I have not eradicated wonky left leg syndrome… I did try to concentrate on the smooth pedaling, given time all will be fine… The summary for the week: Rowing machine: 1 ½ hours Weight training: zero

(Week 3)(Day 6)…

Good evening, Well returned home today with my new Dolan track frame… I am quite excited with it and will start to source the components next week and hope to ride it for the first time in Manchester at one of Mr. Batchelor’s track sessions in September. My Royce bottom bracket has arrived and has now been fitted to my Person… hopefully with this the wonky left leg syndrome should go… Brian rode well in Manchester on Friday and is back doing sub 12 second 200 meters… last time he was

(Week 3)(Day 3)…

Hi, Not too much to report today… the usual 30 minutes on the rowing machine this morning… and nothing else training wise. I have just finished taking apart my part built Dolan track bike. I had them build me a frame unfortunately they did not build it correctly so needed to build another one. After work tomorrow I am driving up to Liverpool and meeting first thing on Friday Stephen Dolan who is Terry’s son and swap the wrong frame for the hopefully correct one. After the visit to the D

(Week 3)(Day 1)(48 Weeks To Go)…

Hi, A bit of a battle of the mind today… I really did not want to get out of bed and get on that rowing machine this morning. The snooze button was pressed twice so it was 20 minutes later than usual when I pulled my first stroke on the machine. The goal on the rower is 1 x 20 and 4 x 25 minutes session this week, however I will be in Manchester on Friday so have elected to do 4 x 30 minutes session this week. Day one completed OK. As the afternoon progressed I did not fancy the thought o
